And the winner is...
And the winner is...
2008 NAIDOC celebrations all around the country have just taken place. I was thrilled to bits to have received a phone call saying that I had been nominated for an art award to be presented at the NAIDOC Gala Ball and awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Brisbane. I almost had kittens when I was announced the winner of the 2008 South East Queensland NAIDOC award for distinguished services in the visual arts industry.
The recipients for the awards are nominated by their communities, and are awarded to people who work tirelessly throughout their communities to make a difference, show leadership qualities and inspire their communities.

NAIDOC celebrations at Cotton Tree - 27 July 2008
NAIDOC at Cotton Tree for the Sunshine Coast mob was great...The rain managed to clear for a beautiful day enjoyed by all who attended. I had my stall there amidst many other great stalls, and had a great day catching up with everyone and meeting new people. I sold some of my paintings, postcards and handmade Aboriginal products.
